Intellectual Janata Party (IJP) is an independent civic and political movement dedicated to informed citizenship, constitutional values and evidence-based public discourse. Views in opinion pieces belong to their authors.
A community of readers, not followers
The IJP community is deliberately small in structure and large in ambition. There is no membership fee, no leader to follow, and no orthodoxy to accept. There is only a shared commitment to reading widely, arguing carefully and defending the Constitution.
Civic reading groups
Groups meet monthly in cities across India to work through a single serious book — on governance, the Constitution, Indian history, or public policy. New groups are welcome in every district.
Public debates
Every quarter the IJP hosts a public debate on a live policy question. Motions are drawn from the year's news; speakers are drawn from readers. The rule is simple: cite your evidence, engage the strongest version of the other side, and leave as friends.
The pledge
Members of the community make no political pledge. They make an intellectual one — to read before they speak, to argue in good faith, and to change their mind when the evidence changes.
