A manifesto for thoughtful citizens
We are a republic of a billion opinions and often, too few arguments. This manifesto is an invitation to a different kind of citizenship — the kind that begins with reading, proceeds through reasoning, and only then arrives at conviction.
1. Nation above politics
We evaluate every proposal by whether it strengthens India — its institutions, its constitutional order, and the lives of its citizens — not by whether it strengthens a party.
2. Evidence before emotion
Data is not neutral, but it is disciplining. We insist on the effort of checking numbers, reading primary sources, and preferring what can be shown over what feels obvious.
3. Constitution first
The Constitution is the most ambitious civic document in modern history and remains our common covenant. We treat its values — liberty, equality, fraternity, secularism, federalism — as non-negotiable defaults.
4. Civil debate
We can disagree with the person across the table without pretending they are the enemy. Reasoned disagreement is how a free society thinks out loud.
5. Civilizational wisdom, modern methods
India is heir to five thousand years of philosophical inquiry. We take that inheritance seriously — and we take modern science, economics and social research just as seriously.
6. Continuous learning
No citizen is finished learning. Our book clubs, reading lists and long-form essays are the practical infrastructure of an intellectually honest public.
